So I was driving around to go get some food, and my car automatically turns the headlights on at night. It was pretty dark, after dusk, and my car already had the lights on and I nearly ran into a car.
BECAUSE THE STUPID BLACK (car, not person) HONDA ACCORD DRIVER DIDN'T HAVE THEIR LIGHTS ON!!! and it was pretty dark, The street I was on was a residental street, and not really wide enough for two cars to go by at the same time, and it was over a blind crest of a hill and they were kind of driving down the middle of the street (which you kind of have to do in our town because so many streets have parking on both sides, so many roads are really only wide enough for about 1 1/2 cars. I luckily saw them before I ran into them. anyway, my rant is done.

That sounds like silver cars in the rain. It never fails, that 9/10 silver cars in the rain do not have their headlights on.

I try to always remember to put my headlights on, even during the day, and ironically, my aunt does this, she drives a silver honda accord, and it often seems like she should have her lights on, but she doesn't.

Great (though occasionally annoying) thing about my Outback is the headlights only work when the key is in and turned to the full ignition position, so I just leave them always set to on, since it can't drain the battery or anything.

The first thing I do in mine after I start it, is flip the lights on. I figure if I make a habit out of it, I am a whole lot less likely to forget.

This makes that GM lights on all the time thing seem like a good idea.

We just had a horrible tragedy here in Los Angeles last night on Halloween. Three young girls were struck and killed by a speeding hit and run driver in a SUV and left to die in the street. The SUV driver fled from the scene and two young men abandoned the SUV behind a store where it was found by the police. No word yet if the two culprits have been caught. Los Angeles seems to be the hit and run capital of the country, we hear of this happening almost every week here.

They are called "DRL's", daytime running lights.

This is why we need the return of pop-up headlights. You never forget to turn them on when you're used to that audible clunk of them popping up and the visual cue of something missing from your field of view at night.
